It is such an honour to be writing the very first post on our brand new blog about two people who inspire us in so many ways. In May we flew back to Hungary for friends’ wedding, but we also managed to get an amazing family day in: where we celebrated my parents’ 30th wedding anniversary.
My parents are very modest people, but I do like to brag about them. They are truly the kindest, most loving, most selfless and supportive people I know and they have always set the best example for me and my sisters.
Even though three decades is a long time, and a lot of things have happened in those years – amazing things and hard things too – but their love and acceptance towards each other only grew stronger and greater in front of our eyes. As a child I always thought that my parents were invincible and that they always in every situation have the solution to every problem and know the secret to overcome any obstacle. Growing up I now realise that it was never so much about them being untouchable or made of titanium, or them being adults and knowing the answer to every question. It was really about their constantly believing, never giving up, always loving, and forever standing by each other and sticking together through everything. For better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health. Forever.
Their love inspires us and their way of always hoping and never surrendering sets the bar very high for us. Now, exactly one year into our marriage, I can only wish that one day we too grow up to be able to set a similar example to our children and grandchildren.
We wish Anya and Apa all the happiness and joy and many many more decades to celebrate together. To celebrate our family that they created, they founded and nurtured together year after year.
Below are some of the memories that we captured on the day of their 30th wedding anniversary (though they seriously don’t look old enough to be married for 30 years).
